Coalman's Cottage takes it's name from it's early use as the local coalman's residence. Recent owners have spared no expense in lovingly restoring the villa to a high degree and while the kitchen is modern and luxurious the rest of the house retains the character of the 1920's with polished matai floors, fireplaces and decoration of the era. Coalman's Cottage is the perfect setting for a weekend escape. You can sit reading in the garden or relax on the verandah and watch the last of the sun go down over the Tararua Ranges. Coalman's cottage contains 3 double bedrooms, 2 queen size and 2 twin beds. There is a lovingly restored bathroom with claw-foot bath and a modern spacious fully equipped kitchen with every amenity. Enjoy the luxury of indoor/outdoor living by taking advantage of the spacious deck off the lounge. Coalman's cottage is fully self-contained including all linen and towels. Continental breakfast provisions of: cereal, muesli, yoghurts, fresh fruit, fruit juice and plunger coffee is provided. The cottage is located in a quiet residential street a short stroll from the Palliser's vineyard and 5 minutes from the square. Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our private garden with a feature of mature grapevines, recently planted olive trees and giant fruit trees or sit on the deck and watch the sun go down over the distant mountains. Cycle or stroll to the village square for cafes and restaurants or amble to the nearby vineyards for wine tasting.
